The Ancient Order of Elves: History of Elves in Sosaria
Pre-Sosarian Year (SY) Reckoning:
- The Beginning - The elves, following the Valar to Valinor, are swept off course after a fierce battle with Morgoth upon the seas. The lucky survivors of the attack reach the shores of a strange land.(more)
- The Great Dividing - Some of the elves, after many centuries of harmony, living as one, seek new places to live and set off in different directions. The different groups eventually lose contact with each other. (more)
- The Times of Darkness - A millennia later a human named Mondain is born. At age 15, Mondain kills his father, and takes his ruby gem which he eventually turns into the Gem of Immortality. With the Gem he controls all of Sosaria and the elves, fleeing Mondain's wrath, go into hiding.(more)
Sosarian Year (SY) Reckoning Begins:
00.0 The Stranger uses a time machine to step outside of natural time and penetrate Mondain's stronghold. In the ensuing battle, the Stranger shatters Mondain's Gem of Immortality and then slays Mondain. From this point Sosarian Years are counted.
00.0+ As the elves come out of hiding they soon discover that since The Dividing so long ago they once again have become many different races with many different cultures. The different tribes that fled from Mondain have become four distinct races Desert, Sea, Mountain and Forest Elves.(more)
250.1 Lord British forms the Kingdom of Brittania.
293.0 The elves come together to form a united nation under the Mystic One as their leader. As in days of old, the many Elven Races bond together to form one great Empire.
296.3 Gunther is crowned King of the Elves.
300.0 300th anniversary of Mondain's Defeat.
301.3 The world of Sosaria is split into two by a human mage in the service of Lord British. One facet is called Trammel, the other Felluca.
302.6 The original landing spot of the Lost Elves is found in a lovely forest near the dungeon of Wrong. A Temple is built to honor the spot and it is called Eldamar.
304.2 King Gunther tries to become absolute ruler of the elves and attacks the other elven kingdoms. The Kinslayer Wars begin.
305.1 Sarlock Longbow is crowned King of the Elves.
310.9 The Elves go to war against the Holy Order of the Silver Wolves. For nearly two years the battles rage on. Elves begin to settle in the woods around Eldamar. They build buildings of great architecture and soon it becomes as grand as the Elven cities from before the time of Mondain. It is blessed with the name "Eldador" the Land of the Elves.
314.5 Strange new abilities and magics are discovered. Necromancers start to spread throughout the realms as well as Paladins who fight for good. The Elves ban the use of Necromancy in their Order and in the lands of Eldador.
315.8 The Varar en' Eldador (Protectors of Eldador) are formed to help defend the Elven city from the new threats the world poses.
