When everything was still empty, Ilùvatar created the Valar from his thought, and they made music before him. Once Sosaria had been created, the Valar took tasks to make it as beautiful and enchanting as their celestial melody. After the betrayal of Morgoth and Lolth, the Valar retreated to Valinor and made the heavenly place their home. Because of the fragile balance Sosaria's fate hung in, the Valar vowed never to leave Valinor. Instead, they sent Maiar, their children, to carry out their will upon Sosaria. However, the Valar found the detachment from Sosaria painful, for they could no longer feel Ilùvatar's creatures with love and closeness. Then Irmo, the Vala of Dreams and Vision, created a plane where the Valar could speak their Will to the Elves and embrace them in closeness. Thus, in a dream-state (or that of reverie), Elves are known to speak to the Valar directly. And, once the Fëa - the spirit- of the Elves has passed beyond the bounds of living, they may join the Valar in Valinor and feel their everlasting love and wisdom. It is said that once Sosaria's fate has unraveled, the Valar shall descend upon Sosaria for a final battle against Morgoth and Lolth. Should they win, Valinor shall open its gates and Sosaria will become a part of its heavenly beauty. Should they fail, Ilùvatar would bring forth his Judgment, and the creation would fall into darkness once more.
