Aüle Symbol: Emerald (gem) Color (s): Bronze and copper Theme: Earth, craft, materialism Holy Time of Reverence: January Title: The Smith Association: Husband of Yavanna Particularly favored by Elven crafters and artisans, Aüle governs over craft and materialism. He is called upon when there is a need for physical creation, such as crafting weapons and armor or constructing buildings of Elven towns. Though not governing over creativity or beauty, He is the only celestial force capable of recreating the beauty and perfection of Creation in physical objects. When the Valar bestow blessed object unto Elves, they all bear Aüle's mark for he is the one that gave them form. Aüle's blessings always come in direct and visible form, and always through a mysterious appearance of a needed object. In times of war, for example, Elven generals have awoken with a great sword by their side that held the mark of Aüle: an emerald embedded in the hilt. Elven heroes also awake with Aüle's armor: a light tunic with emeralds lining the collar. Elves know that it is Aüle's emerald because the purity and color of the gem are ne'er found in Arda. Perhaps Aüle is most known for creating Dwarves, a race that is stout and strong. He made Dwarves unaffected by fire and cold, and shorter than any other race. When the race first appeared in Sosaria, they were laughed at for their size. But the aptness to craft great weapons and their strength quickly dissipated all jokes. Their size aided Dwarves in acquiring precious metals for weapons and armor quicker and a strength of 20 Edanea seems to have been packed in their stout bodies. Priests of Aüle are always unique, and often found strange by non-Elves. Aüle's priests are shorter and stouter than most Elves, and they are easily recognizable by their large shoulders and rough hands. They are masters of at least one crafting skill, and thus take apprentices among capable younger Elves. They do not necessarily hold services, for they are often too busy crafting beautiful objects. However, they are known to frequently bestow Aüle's gifts upon worthy Elves.
