The Ancient Order of Elves: Path of Nature - Rangers
Through melody of the Valar, Sosaria was created. The lands were lush and green, covered with beautiful forests and rich plains. When the creatures of Sosaria came to life, they rejoiced in the beauty of Mother Nature, cherishing the gifts of beauty that came from her. Each being took from nature what was needed, leaving plenty for others to use. When darkness crept into the hearts of certain races, and the harmony of Sosaria was disrupted, Nature's gifts and resources became abused. The Elves still cherished their forest, choosing to build homes from stone or fallen logs. The darkness that now reigned in the hearts of the wicked turned them green with jealousy and thus they attacked the forests that were Elven homes. Terrible fires were set and entire forests disappeared leaving nothing but barren sands in its stead. Hurt, the Elves began tracking the malevolent creatures and disposing of them, thus bringing peace and protection to their beloved lands. These Elves became known as Rangers. When the eldest of them reached Valinor, the Valar opened the service to Nature as Malle' En' Seorsa.

Known as the Lifeblood of the Forests, the Rangers are the guardians and keepers of Nature. Hidden within the forests, they guard the trees and lands of Elves, welcoming all friends and disposing swiftly of all enemies. Bows and lightning fast melee weapons are the preferred choice for these forest hunters, allowing their swiftness to shine through. However, equal thought is given to healing those in need, be they animal or Elf. The Ranger has the ability to survive in a hostile environment on their own with little supply, thus they are invaluable in rescue parties and hunts. Their ability to track and detect movement of creatures gives them the advantage of being able to catch any threat that dares walk through the Elven lands. The special bond that the Ranger has with Nature not only helps them protect her, but provides them with Nature's protection as well.

The Ranger is a quiet and private person. He (or she) is often described as a hermit, spending more time in the forests than among the Elven people. In tune with Nature, they often listen to animals or plants, giving them the air of being aloof or dreamy. This air, however, is deceptive as the Ranger is aware of every movement even though they might be looking elsewhere. The Ranger prides himself (herself) for his (her) agility, and relies on swiftness rather than on strength. Soft-spoken, the Ranger sounds like the whisper of leaves in the wind, speaking only when necessary. It is for such reason that the words of the Ranger are considered to always be wise. In battle, the Ranger is driven by an intense need to protect Nature and her inhabitants, making them a valuable asset to any hunting party.

An excerpt from the Chronicles of the Path :

Saevan scanned the forest road. The ground had been indented with many hooves. Touching the ground with his gloved hand, Saevan narrowed his eyes. The party had gone through the path recently. Turning to the south, he stared off into the distance, calculating. "They should arrive to the clearing in four suns." - he spoke, then clicked his lips. They gave him enough time to gather his companions and meet them at the clearing. Whistling melodiously, he called his bark-colored mare and waited as she galloped toward him. Once she arrived, he took one last look to the road leading south and nodded.

"Common! Can't we jus' rest a 'ittle bit? No one's gonna know 'bout it!" - the young human spoke, trying desperately to match the step of the hunter. The brown-cloaked man looked at the boy with a scowl, then spoke: "No time to rest. Look, I saw that ranger there, and I know they gonna be lookin' for us now." He quickened his pace and listened to the boy huff with a smile.

They reached the clearing and cautiously looked around. It was quiet and the hunter scoffed. "Some ranger that was ... couldn' even figure out where we be goin'." With a triumphant smile, he walked across the clearing before he saw the figure approach.

Saevan walked towards the hunter with measured steps. He saw the human frown and stop. When he reached him, Saevan spoke clearly, in the tongue of man: "Thee hast dishonored our forests and hurt the friend that liveth within. Hast thee a reason for thine digression?" The human laughed, then spat on the ground before Saevan. "The only reason I nee' is seeing the dumb beast cross my way. Slice its throat with my sword." Saevan felt his blood rise within him. "Thee hast broken the laws of the Forest, and thee hast not provided a reason for such. I hast no choice but to deliver punishment in Nature's name."

The human hunter laughed once again and unsheathed his blade. "Ya think ya can stop me with that pathetic li'l bow? My sword is gonna gut ya out, worm!" Saevan raised his hand. "It be in thine best interest to stay wise, defiler, for Nature's justice is swift." Throwing his bow to the side, Saevan smiled before continuing: "It is not my place to deliver judgment upon thee, for the Laws of the Forest warn of impudence. And as such I shan't. But my companions may." The human's eyes widened as he saw Elven rangers come from the darkness of the forest, their arrows set in their bows, and he shivered.
