The Taur'Amandilea have an exceptional understanding of the meaning of life and the connections
between all living things. They have a special gift with nature and it's creatures, devoting much of their lives
to protecting nature. In turn, nature often seems to protect them. It is even rumored that at
times when they are fully trained, they can feel animals' emotions and hear the trees whispering. The
Taur'Amandilea have a great companionship with creatures of the realm and often can ask for their
aid and allegiance. As the druid becomes more in touch with nature they gain the ability to call
upon the fiercer creatures of the land. Eventually they can even call upon normally dark creatures for
the good of their cause.
Druids are gifted with magic and have an especially profound understanding
of the natural elements (Earth, Air, Fire, Water) and their uses in the arcane arts. Although they are not
trained in religion, as are the followers of the Temple Path, druids hold the natural places
of the earth as holy shrines where they are most in touch with the mysteries of the world.
Unlike their Ranger brothers who are more prone to using weapons, they rarely can be found with any
type of weapon, although they do occasionally use shields as long as their use of magic is not hindered.
However, much like the Rangers, they are masters of the forests and can travel though it undetected when
needed (this may be where rumors of nature hiding them from enemy eyes come from). They are never
found in bright colors and prefer to dress in the colors of their natural surroundings. Druids rarely live in
homes and although they may own them to store belongings in, they prefer to wander the lands living off
of nature.
An excerpt from the Chronicles of the Path :
A ripple traveled through the forest. It was nothing tangible, most travelers would never be able to feel
such a signal. As it progressed, the animals of the forest went silent and disappeared from sight.
Alfirin paused as it passed her hiding place among the trees. She closed her eyes for a moment feeling
it pass through her, sensing the fear and panic alight in the hearts of the forest's creatures.
Something was coming. Sliding her tiny frame down the tree with the grace of a dancer, Alfirin landed
silently at it's base. She closed her eyes for a moment reaching out to her small winged allies
in the tree-tops. The information she was searching for came from a lark at the edge of the wood - it
was a clear picture of snarling humanoids mumbling to themselves and wearing crude, rusty armor.
Orcs.
Alfirin's gut felt anger boil up inside her till she was sure that the beings around her were aware of it.
Using her training she calmed herself so that her emotions would not hinder her communication with the
animals around her. She would need their help to stop the orcs. Another ripple shot through the forest,
but this one was different. It was almost audible to Alfirin, a groan of pain and helpless anger.
The Orcs were starting to cut down the trees and the ancient oaks were expressing their rage. Alfirin
had to concentrate to stay silent as she moved to the area where the orcs were, each groan made her
cringe. Just as she was about to come upon the orcs she ran into another creature- a large grizzly bear
who was about to set upon the orcs himself. She slowly approached and placed her tiny hand
on the bears massive head.
"Perhaps we can protect each other my friend." she whispered. He rubbed his huge head gently against
her in answer.
Peering through the trees she counted five orcs. They were obviously a low sort and none would know magic.
They were grunts sent to cut wood to help expand the local orc fort. It would still be a challenge
to dispose of them though, as much as she would like to simply fry them with energy bolts or flamestike
spells she could not risk setting the trees afire. She whispered a spell under her breath and attacked
synchronized with the roar of a grizzly bear's furious charge.
