The Ancient Order of Elves:  Roleplaying For Dummies

Expressing one's self is one of the most vital aspects of role-playing in Ultima Online. We are very limited by the visual aspect of the game that we must make up for it by other means. Language is the biggest indicator of who is a role-player in UO. As elves we have a whole language at our disposal to add to our characters as well as many other tricks for expressing simple everyday things.

Numbers are not substitutes for letters and we avoid abbreviations.

Modern lingo and "dewd" spelling are avoided.

Capitalization and punctuation help RPers take what you say seriously.

Again spelling is important, as well as overall appearance. Even the color of your clothes and text says something about your character.

The last thing you say to people leaves an image in their mind. Be sure to leave a good last impression.

Avoiding game terminology we call reds "murderers".

Adding in Elvish words helps add a special touch to the role-playing.

Sometimes it's hard to explain to non-Rpers what you need. Be creative and you can usually make yourself understood without going OOC.

Appearance and small details with speech can help greatly with making your elf recognizable as an elf.

Quenya (Elvish) isn't hard to use. Just memorize a few common phrases (hello, goodbye, etc) and it will add so much to your elf's character.
